1. Foil Technique (Foil Highlights)

  • Suitable for distinct contrasts

💡 Ideal for: a more striking color difference or highlights from the roots.

2. Coupe Soleil

Coupe Soleil is an older technique that was especially popular in the 90s.

Advantages:

  • Very suitable for shorter hair, foils tend to slip out of short hair more easily

  • Messing up is almost impossible

  • Following the pattern of the cap results in a beautiful, even distribution.

  • Suitable for distinct contrasts

💡 Ideal for: a more striking color difference and a less natural result. But the distinct streaks can also be very unique and playful.

3. Balayage

A technique that has been enormously popular for years. Balayage (French for "to sweep") is applied freehand without foils, using sweeping motions.

Advantages:

  • Natural, sun-kissed effect

  • Soft subtle transitions, natural color gradient

  • Less maintenance needed

💡 Ideal for: Clients who love a natural look and don't want to come back every month for root touch-ups.

4. Babylights

Super fine highlights that, with the help of foils, are subtly applied to the hair. The result is soft and refined, as if the hair has been naturally lightened by the sun.

Benefits:

  • Very natural effect

  • Less visible with regrowth

  • Perfect for fine or thin hair

💡 Ideal for: Clients trying highlights for the first time or wanting a subtle change.

5. Face Framing Highlights (Money Piece)

A trend that became popular mainly through Instagram and TikTok: lighter strands around the face that literally 'frame' the face.

Benefits:

  • Immediate impact

  • Fresh and trendy

  • Works well in combination with balayage or full color

💡 Ideal for: Clients who want quick results with minimal coloring.

Benefits:

  • Statement look

  • Creative and playful

  • Great for fashion-conscious clients

💡 Ideal for: Clients who love an edgy, striking style.

7. Ombre

With ombre, you see a clear color difference between the bottom and top of the hair, often with a clear transition from dark at the top to a (much) lighter bottom

Benefits:

  • Trendy and stylish

  • Low maintenance

  • Versatile in color choice

💡 Ideal for: Clients who want to experiment with color without bleaching their entire hair.
