Keratine in balans

Keratin in balance

Help, what now?

An unbalanced keratin-moisture balance is quickly noticeable. Your hair becomes dry, frizzy, brittle, and dull. In our blog from last week, ‘Keratin, the foundation of our hair’, we already discussed what keratin is, what it does, and which factors influence the keratin-moisture balance. In this blog, we will delve into how to restore the keratin-moisture balance. We will discuss various products and their application.

From the outside

Lost keratin in the hair must therefore be supplemented from the outside, unlike keratin in our skin. It is important to supplement! It makes your hair healthy and shiny again, but also strong. That strength is necessary for any treatments, such as coloring or perms. With a good keratin-moisture balance, the hair has more elasticity and resilience after perming, color treatments adhere better, and the colored hair is healthier and shinier afterward. In addition, you will enjoy these treatments longer if the condition, meaning the keratin-moisture balance, is good.

Keratin sources

Keratin can be extracted from various sources. Keratin from human hair is said to be the best keratin to process into hair products. In Europe, it is no longer allowed to process human material into products. Therefore, pure keratin can now only be obtained from animals.

Much keratin is obtained from the wool of sheep and goats. This hair is similar in structure to human hair and contains relatively large amounts of keratin. The keratin itself also differs little from human keratin.

Keratin in products

Today, many hair care products contain keratin. As is often the case, but certainly for the keratin in these products, 'go for the quality of salon products'! Cheap products often contain very little keratin, poor quality keratin, or keratin molecules that are too large to be easily absorbed by the hair. Large molecules therefore only form a layer around the hair, but do not penetrate into the hair. The more the keratin resembles the keratin in our own hair, the better it is absorbed and the more noticeable its effect. Keratin is easily recognizable in the ingredient list: keratin, keratin amino acids, and hydrolyzed keratin.

Keratin can be added to various hair products. You'll find it in shampoos, detangling sprays, conditioners, masks, and of course, there are keratin treatments. These products are all designed to restore the keratin-moisture balance. It is of course even better if keratin is added to products used in treatments that are harmful to the hair and reduce its keratin content, such as bleaching and perming.

Calmare products with keratin

Leave-in Keratin

Leave-in Keratin contains, as the name suggests, keratin, hydrolyzed keratin. This makes the hair feel elastic and resilient after use. It improves the combability of the hair, makes it supple, and stimulates its natural shine and appearance. It's the perfect product if you want to quickly take good care of your hair, especially now that it comes into contact with chlorine, seawater, or sun a lot in the summer.

Keraphlex

Keraphlex, the ultimate keratin product! It strengthens, protects, and repairs hair from within. It reduces hair breakage and damage during bleaching, coloring, and perming, and can also be used as a standalone treatment when hair needs a significant boost. Keraphlex restores and strengthens broken hair bonds.

Neutral Permanent Line

The Calmare Neutral Permanent Line is a gentle perm, partly due to the added keratin. This ensures that the hair remains in optimal condition even after the perm. The keratin derivatives provide optimal protection and improve shine and combability.
