Wees lief voor je geblondeerde haar!

Be kind to your bleached hair!

Blonde hair is beautiful: it catches the light, looks bright and fresh, and can make your hair shine. But let's be honest, bleached hair also requires extra love. The bleaching process makes your hair more vulnerable, drier, and more susceptible to damage. However, with the right care, your blonde locks will remain healthy, shiny, and strong. In this blog, you'll learn how to truly care for your bleached hair.

Why bleached hair needs extra care

Bleaching removes the natural pigments from the hair, which also leads to a loss of moisture and protective building blocks. The result? Hair that feels drier, breaks more easily, and is more sensitive to heat and external factors like sun and cold. Good care is not a luxury, but a must.

Choose the right products

Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner specially developed for bleached or coloured hair, such as Calmare Color Care Shampoo and Repair Conditioner. These products gently cleanse and help maintain your hair's moisture levels. A silver or no-yellow shampoo helps neutralise yellow undertones. Many of these shampoos tend to dry out your hair more quickly, so opt for an extra nourishing variant, such as Calmare No Yellow Shampoo.

A nourishing mask is also essential. Use an Intense Treatment Mask at least once a week to strengthen and keep your hair supple.

Hydration, hydration, hydration

Bleached hair needs moisture. In addition to a good mask, you can also consider a leave-in conditioner, such as Leave-in Keratin and Hair Repairer, or hair oil, such as Argan Oil Treatment. Apply this oil mainly to the ends, where the hair is oldest and most vulnerable. Avoid heavy products at the roots to prevent limp hair.

Be careful with heat

Blow-drying, straightening, and curling can be disastrous for bleached hair. Try to limit heat as much as possible and always use a heat protection product, such as Calmare Blow-dry Spray. Don't set styling tools hotter than necessary and give your hair regular 'heat-free' days.

Just like your skin, your hair can get sunburned. UV rays make blonde hair even drier and can cause the colour to fade. Wear a hat in bright sunlight or use hair products with UV protection — especially in summer or on holiday.

Regular trims

No matter how well you care for your hair, split ends won't repair themselves. By getting regular trims (approximately every 6–8 weeks), you prevent damage from creeping further up. This way, your hair will look healthier and fuller.

Listen to your hair

Perhaps the most important tip: observe and feel what your hair needs. Is it dry? Provide extra nourishment. Does it feel limp? Opt for lighter care. Bleached hair is not a one-size-fits-all, it requires attention and adaptation.

Conclusion

Blonde hair can be incredibly beautiful, provided you give it the care it deserves. By gently cleansing, thoroughly moisturising, and being careful with heat and external influences, your bleached hair will remain radiant and strong. So be kind to your bleached hair, it will always show!
